The idea for Barrel-Art was originally born out of necessity. Mike Prieto and his wife Kambra lost everything in a fire during their move to Europe several years ago. They needed furniture immediately, so Mike took up woodworking to build the critical pieces. During their travels to the European wineries, he was inspired to make a bar out of a barrel. His efforts with the barrel generated a great deal of interest and he began developing other ideas for furnishings and barware that were made from barrels. They brought their ideas back to the United States and after Mike completed his business degree, he opened Barrel-Art.
